Coronavirus

30/10/2020 - Update from the Moorland Team

Face coverings are currently mandatory on places of Worship and church halls. While there are exemptions  this is a legal requirement. Those who are leading services or events in a place of worship, and those who assist them (for instance by reading, preaching, or leading prayer) do not always need to wear a face covering, although one should be worn especially if physical distancing cannot be maintained. These exemptions are made to enable communication, particularly with those who rely on lipreading, facial expressions or clear sound; they do not exempt clergy and other leaders from wearing face coverings in other situations or during other activities.

From Monday 15th June, some of our churches re-opened, for private prayer & services. Opening hours are as follows:

ASHBURTON: Daily 9am-5pm

HOLNE: Wednesday & Sunday 10am-5pm

HUCCABY: Daily

BUCKLAND: Daily

BICKINGTON: Saturdays, Midday-2pm

WIDECOMBE, LEUSDON & POSTBRIDGE:

These churches may be open and may be holding some services. Please contact the Team Vicar (Geoffrey Fenton - 01364 621334) or the Churchwardens to hear the latest information.

24/03/2020 - Updated advice from the Church of England

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement of 23rd March, the Archbishops have written to clergy in support of the measures, requiring that churches must now close both for private worship and public services.

Our church buildings are therefore now closed for public worship,  private prayer and all other meetings and activities except for vital community services until further notice.

A message from the Team Rector

Dear all,

In an effort to maintain our family connections as a church whilst we physically can’t meet, we would encourage you to please share your phone number with us.

We would also like to offer help and support to anyone who may need it during the Coronavirus outbreak. If you would like to add your name to the list of volunteers please do let us know. Providing support can come in many guises; picking up shopping, a friendly phone call, collecting urgent supplies or posting mail.

If you are self-isolating and in need of support, please call, text or email us and we’ll do our best to help in any way we can.
